Welcome to the NEW Manistee Business “Cheer Guide” as part of a partnership between the Manistee Area Chamber of Commerce, Manistee Visitors Bureau and the North Country Trail Run. This year we’ve teamed up together to offer every business in the Manistee area opportunity to reach the 1,000 runners and over 300 volunteers this August for FREE.
“The North Country Trail Run will be printing a full color guide with the course maps and instructions, welcome letters from the chamber and visitors bureau and business listing and descriptions for up to 100 businesses in the Manistee area.” As part of the race’s commitment to the area, the race will offer this free guide and business who want to be included in it for free with a 75 word description of their business.
Every runner will receive this guide in three unique ways:
- A printed full color version will be handed to them within the first few minutes of arriving at the race this year included in their runner packet.
- A digital version will be available online to all runners, their family members and members of the community with additional perks FREE for your business. They include:
- Links to your website and/or social media pages (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter).
- Link to your business so they can map themselves right to your doorstep
- Phone number that is clickable so they can call you right from the guide
- All runners will be emailed a link to the guide
This is limited to the first 100 businesses and here is what is included in your listing:
- Your business name alphabetized under your business category
- 75 word description that you provide
- A one line sentence cheering on the runners race weekend
- Optional: Your choice to enhance your listing with a small runner icon that means that if runners show this guide in your business they can receive 10% off their purchase.

ABOUT THE RACE:
This will be the 20th year of one of the top trail races in the country, right here in our backyard. The North Country Trail Run will be held August 24th and 25th in our beautiful Manistee National Forest and each year, this year being no different, it draws runners from nearly 40 states, every part of Michigan and this year 4 different countries. A race that only takes a little over a week to fill up because of it’s popularity and great benefits to the runners. They include:
- Running right here in beautiful Northern Michigan in the ever popular Manistee National Forest
- The largest finisher medal in the United States for a 50 Mile Ultra Marathon, 50K Ultra Marathon and 13.1 Mile Half Marathon. It is also the home of the 3rd largest Marathon Finisher medal in the United States.
- Every runner receives a running race shirt, regular shirt, running hat, coffee mug, sublimated full color hooded sweatshirt, drawstring backpack, race sticker for their car showing off the distance they finished and as well tickets to one of the best post race parties in the country.
All information submitted is subject to committee approval. Alcohol or tobacco product advertisements or outdoor endurance related events that fall between August 11th and September 8th 2019 or 2020 will not be permitted. All businesses must have a valid registered business address within Manistee County to qualify for submission.
